Los Angeles. La loi des attractions

Paris, 2018

As a paragon of sprawling cities, answering for an urbanism made of private houses and their lawn, LOS Angles challenges today the questions we’ll have to solve in our conurbations’ urbanism.

Los Angeles. La loi des attractions suggests to learn from LA, through case studies, critical analysis of writings and more broadly of the tremendous corpus dealing with the city (movies, music etc). This research looks trough the Reyner Banham’s four ecologies forty years later to observe the various faces of Los Angeles and to decipher the new ways of life that have bloomed: the effects of the New Urbanism in Pasadena, the impact of new technologies, the conquest of former industrial sites… the revitalization of Los Angeles Downtown.
